GivEnergy All in One: check the warranty and your UK quote

If a UK quote names the GivEnergy All in One, check the exact generation and model before comparing prices. This guide examines the documented 6 kW AC-coupled Gen 1 unit, not All in One 2. The manufacturer company GivEnergy Ltd is in administration, so historic warranty wording cannot be treated as ordinary current cover. Use the questions below to establish who will supply, install and support the quoted system.

Which All in One is on your quote?

Check for the UK Gen 1 SKU GIV-AIO-AC-13.5 on the nameplate and written offer. All in One 2 and the 3.6 kW variant are different configurations; their published figures and terms should not be substituted for this one.

What does the warranty document mean now?

Hardware and capacity terms

The public document dated 13 February 2024 is a residential product warranty overview, not an individual customer's formal legal warranty document. It names GivEnergy Ltd and describes a conditional 12-year All in One hardware term and 70% usable-capacity promise. Its first page says the customer's formal documentation is held in their individual online account and becomes valid only after completed commissioning. We have not inspected any customer's document. The administrator now says GivEnergy Ltd will honour no further hardware warranties or ongoing user and software support. Neither the overview nor the possible existence of account-specific documentation shows that a claim will be honoured now. Ask the supplier for a current, named obligor and the formal terms applicable to the serial number and installation date.

Installer, seller and separate protection

Ask who warrants the installation work, which seller is responsible under your contract, and whether any insurance or separate scheme actually covers this product. Request the policy and exclusions rather than assuming a group company or asset purchaser assumed GivEnergy Ltd's old liabilities. The administrator recommends contacting the installer first. Individual rights depend on the contract and facts.

App, cloud and firmware

The software licence names GivEnergy Software Ltd, a separate company. The Energy Storage Association said in April 2026 that the app and portal were expected to continue. Companies House now lists the software company as Active — Active proposal to strike off, with a first Gazette notice for compulsory strike-off filed on 15 September 2026. This does not prove that service has stopped, and the April expectation cannot guarantee its future. A GivEnergy software announcement proposed free local access and paid cloud functions such as remote access, historical data, automation and API use. These are different from the hardware warranty. We could not verify a current fee, complete feature entitlement, firmware-update commitment, replacement operator or long-term service guarantee. Ask for current written terms and confirm what remains usable locally on the quoted configuration.

Will it fit your existing solar system?

An AC-coupled retrofit can retain an existing PV inverter in the documented arrangement, but compatibility depends on your system. Ask the installer to identify the offered model and nameplate, what happens to your existing inverter, whether your supply and proposed metering arrangement fit, and how export, grid or DNO permission and commissioning will be handled. Have them specify any Gateway and backup scope separately. The manufacturer documents configurations with and without a Gateway: it is additional for the documented whole-home backup arrangement, not an assumed part of on-grid storage. No published diagram proves that every existing solar system is compatible.

What is the full installed cost?

Request the complete additional installed price compared with keeping your existing PV system. An itemised written quote should identify the base unit, required inverter or control and metering pieces, any Gateway or backup work you choose, electrical modifications, installation, commissioning and every mandatory upfront charge. Separate recurring software, support or maintenance charges and any claimed insurance or protection policy. Confirm the legal supplier, whether the unit is new and in stock, and who stands behind each term. A product sheet is not a complete installed quote.

What can the calculator check?

It can compare your supported battery-addition assumptions with keeping the same solar system without a battery. The 13.5 kWh usable pack figure is energy capacity; 6 kW is a power rate. Neither tells you the first-year AC energy in kWh/year delivered from storage to your home in place of grid purchases. Enter three user-chosen annual home-delivered AC energy scenarios in the calculator, not a forecast derived from capacity. Its whole-system AC efficiency is home-delivered AC energy divided by AC solar that would otherwise have been exported, including relevant conversion and auxiliary losses. The manufacturer's published efficiency is not automatically on this measurement boundary. The model compares avoided variable electricity purchases with export income forgone, using only the full additional installed battery cost, your chosen horizon and life, and evidenced annual costs. If a cloud subscription or maintenance is expected, enter your evidenced annual estimate in ongoing costs; an unknown fee is not evidence of zero cost.

The calculator does not price administration probability, warranty recovery, app or cloud continuity, backup value, grid charging, dynamic tariffs, replacement, finance or physical timing. A manufacturer warranty duration never sets the assumed battery life or analysis horizon, and annual totals do not establish that charging and discharge can happen when needed.

Questions to ask before accepting a quote

  • Which exact Gen 1 model, serial number or batch, condition and legal supplier are on the offer? Is the unit new and in stock?
  • What remains of your existing solar system? Which phase, metering, export, grid or DNO and commissioning arrangements are proposed, and which Gateway or backup parts are included?
  • What is the itemised additional upfront amount, and which software, support, maintenance or protection charges recur?
  • Who will honour hardware defects, usable-capacity terms and installation work? Which named party and documents apply to your serial number and installation date? What separate insurance, if any, covers this system?
  • Who currently operates the app and cloud, what local functions remain usable, what are the written price and firmware terms, and what happens if the proposed software-company strike-off proceeds?
  • What supports first-year AC home-delivered energy and a whole-system AC efficiency on the calculator's boundary? Which avoidable import rate and forgone export rate apply to your household?

Keep your quote and warranty documents together. Use the existing-solar quote checklist, then enter your own supported assumptions in the calculator. Ask the installer or seller to resolve any missing provider, component or service term before comparing offers.
